Frequently Asked Questions
Victorian Hypnosis & Counselling
There are many questions that we regularly get asked
at Victorian Hypnosis and Counselling – here are the answers…
In the first session you will be asked to talk about your goals and what you hope to achieve. This is an information sharing session where the therapist gets to know you and formulate a treatment plan. You will not experience hypnotherapy in action until session two, however, it’s worth the wait.
A trance is a state where a person becomes very relaxed. A person will become relaxed by listening to the Hypnotherapist who will guide them.
The trance state is a very enjoyable experience. Clients often describe it as a relaxed feeling where they don’t want to speak and are happy to just listen to the hypnotherapist. It has also been compared to daydreaming. Some clients will hear what the hypnotherapist is saying, other clients may not.
Hypnotic suggestions are basically carefully worded statements designed to lock ideas into a clients subconscious mind.
The therapist will frame suggestions which are always related to the client’s goal, helping the client reach their desired outcome. Subconsciously, clients will only accept a suggestion that they truly want.
The subconscious simply rejects statements which are not congruent with inner core beliefs and values. Suggestions will never be negative or malicious in nature.
Hypnotherapy is very safe. At VHC you are in the hands of a highly-trained and qualified clinician. The clinician is required to maintain ongoing professional development and training each year, which ensures that you receive the utmost professional care.
The type of hypnotherapy where people think they are chickens or other objects is often seen on television and stage shows, and it is not always accurate or factual. Rest assured at VHC you will not experience this.
As a client, no matter what suggestion you experience in session you will only accept what is right for you deep within. You cannot accept what you do not want to unconsciously, as your unconscious mind simply rejects it.
At VHC we have had great success for our clients who have tried many other treatment programs which simply did not work for them.
In hypnotherapy, all the work happens internally in the privacy of your subconscious mind. Often clients are used to talking for hours about their previous experiences, childhood and past, however, this form of therapy is different. The subconscious mind hears what it needs for change to occur, which is guided by your hypnotherapist.
It is important that you come with an open mind and recognise that you are in control. Only you can change any life situation and you are your only limit.
All treatment sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes.
Each individual will respond to treatment differently and will progress at their own pace. There is no limit to sessions, however, here at VHC we want to help you achieve your goal as quickly as possible. Regular review of progress will occur to ensure you are getting the most out of the program.
